It's a nail biter waiting to see who is going to get whip cream in the face.

Hello 2017!
It's a new year which means it's time to get back to blogging. I took a long hiatus (a year to be exact) and now have a million and one pictures from 2016 that I am going to have to figure out what to do with. One of my New Year's resolution is to get back on track with recording all our family events so that I can continue making our annual family albums. I have a lot of catching up to do but am feeling refreshed and recharged and ready to get back at it! 2016 was a busy year for us with a house renovation (which consumed our lives), summer travels and back to school.

When Snow Art Goes Bad
The first real snowfall of the season and it was perfect for snowman making. Eric and the boys built a snowman and then Sara and I had the great idea to use our snow coloring kit to make him pretty. After going to town with the snow coloring, Sara and I stood back and admired the snowman. That's when I realized how terribly wrong things went. Our nice snowman looked like a murder scene out of a horror movie. Red was the WRONG color to pick for this project. It didn't even cross my mind as Sara asked for the red color. I guess I should have thought through that a little more before getting started. The snowman lasted an overnight before he had to come down. Lesson learned for next time. Red and snowman don't mix.

64 degrees in February?!?! I could deal with the winter if it was like this all the time. Enjoying an unexpected trip to the playground today!

Boys will be Boys
Me: "Will, please hang your coat up, it doesn't belong on the kitchen table"
Hmm....we will need to work on that.

Ski Bunny
Someone got new skis and is very excited about it! Can't wait to see her on the slopes. She will probably end up being better than all of us.

Happy New Year!
We enjoyed our annual tradition of enjoying New Year's Eve at our friends house. Kids and adults had a great time ringing in the new year (almost!).
A kids picture before we headed out. They made it until 11:15 and everyone was still happy!

Chef in Training
Sara is my little sidekick. Always wanting to help me with everything I do. Her favorite thing is to help me make dinner. Fortunately, Santa brought Sara her own little apron to wear when we cook. Cutest cook I have ever seen!

Hockey!
We took the boys to their first Bruins game right after Christmas. Lucky ducks got to sit in Club seats with food service directly to their seat which they thought was the best thing in the world. They have no idea how lucky they are! We enjoyed a nice dinner in the North End before heading over to the game.

Tooth Fairy's 1st Visit!
This guy lost his first tooth today!! Not even 6 years old yet and his first tooth gone already. How did he get so old?? He has been wiggling this tooth for a good 3 weeks now and today it was finally loose enough for Eric to pull it out. Jack was so excited and immediately had to call all the grandparents to share the news. He is anxiously waiting the tooth fairy's arrival tonight. Hopefully she remembers how much she gave Will for his first tooth otherwise we will have an issue in the morning.
Ice Skating
We took the kids ice skating today during open skate at the ice rink. This was Sara's first time ever on skates. I wasn't quite sure how she was going to do but she was excited and hoped right onto the ice and didn't stop until it was time to leave! She started off using the crates and sped around the ice. Eventually she got tired of the crate and took a shot at skating on her own. She did surprisingly well for her first time! As the third child, this girl has no fear! She just wants to keep up with whatever her brothers are doing.

Taking a break

Here is Sara motoring around using her crate. She got really fast the more she skated.
And after a few times around the rink, she attempted skating without the crates. Very impressive considering it was her first time ever on skates!
